@bbphnix At the height of the cold war arms race, the US and the USSR both had enough nukes to completely wipe each other out about 14 times, because they had 10.000 and 12.000 nuclear warheads, respectively. By the way, France is the third nuclear power (300 warheads), not China (more like 30).

Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical weapons should all be in the same category. If you sign the treaty and you don’t use any of these than we cannot retaliate withe these. But if you do use them, treaty signed or not we strike with whatever we want.

I was trained twenty years ago in Nuke ,Bio and Chem warfare. There is no …NO upside to using nukes. They were built only to maintain a credible threat during the cold war. now they just take up space and money to sore them. we obliterated Iraq and we are chunking away at Afghanistan, and will probably take a can of whoopass out on the Paki’s before its all said and done. and thats only half heartedly. We dont need nukes they are a less effective than the chem and bio agents we Likely have.

@Socrates489399 PART 3: So you see, the point is: there might be a greater truth/reality, but it doesn’t matter because we will never know it. We must simply do the best we can with what we do know. Which is what politicians do. They use the most accurate information they can to determine the best course of action for the people they represent. You can’t say that there are no facts and, therefore, it is impossible for them to truly do this. If you shoot someone in the head, they die. FACT.

@Socrates469399 PART 2: You brought up the cave allegory. Let’s talk about that and how it relates to politics since you don’t seem to think “truth” has anything to do with it. Let’s say we are, indeed, in the cave. The cave is all we know. There might be an entire world outside of this cave, but we will never know that, because we can’t leave it. So what do we do? We learn what we can of how things work in the cave, and we use that knowledge to determine how best to survive in our situation.
