to say that social security has NOTHING to do with the defecit is just ill-informed. The program pays out WAY more per retiree than that person ever paid in! As a worker they take out lets say $50 a month in FICA tax, you retire you get a $600 paycheck from SS. In 10 years you will have already gotten back ALL that you have ever paid into SS. The ptogram is Unsustainable.

Yay! 1.1 Trillion dollars over ten years, so are debt will only be 23.9 Trillion instead of 25 Trillion… or something like that. We are currently spending 3X faster than we did to get into this mess in the first place. Serious cuts are necessary. Entitlement programs are a problem.

I think he is finding that the President is in office for reasons much different then either progressives or conservatives first thought . He’s very intelligent and good with words that cloak his true intentions. Whatever they are they will not prove to be good for our nation. He may have been born here but he is a globalist at heart. I’m not cursing him I’m just share my humble view point.

Most people take much more out of SS then they ever put in, but he is right in that if you put in you should get out at least what you put in.

George Carlin was right about them coming for your social security to give to their criminal friends. So right.

@bizzwoofer Really? He used to be a Republican, so understands their dumb lingo quite well–and so do other thinking people. The only people that find it delusional are people who don’t understand the framing of political lies and debates. HE’s right on.

The guy in the video is completely contradictory, and delusional in his take on defining, “Entitlements” from a Republican perspective.

Want to know how the deficits can be curbed? The CBO presents 240 pgs & its 105 policies that would shrink deficits by trillions of dollars over the next 10 years. You’ll also learn, surprise . .that most choices are ‘political poison’!

Hussein has NO plan to balance the budget . . . ever! HE has asserted “every kind of spending ‘is’ on the table.” But [ every kind of spending ] is NOT !

One reason why healthcare costs are rising is pharmaceutical companies charging ridicules prices and getting away with it.

Uh, Social Security DOES “count toward the debt” because Congress regularly raids the trust fund that they have no business touching in the first place.

IF ANYBODY WANTS TO KNOW. RONALD REAGAN SPOKE THE GOLDEN RULE FOR OTHERS TO FOLLOW. ROSEVELT WAS RULE OF THUMB. IF ANYTHING DIFFERS THAN HOOVER IS USED AS A HERO. SO WHAT IS SOCIAL SECURITY. REGAN WAS NOT A SCHOOL TEACHER. THESE PEOPLE ALL WANT CHANGE THATS WHAT THEY CALL POLITICS. ROUTINE IS FOR THE CONSERVEATIVE AND ROSEVELT WAS THE FOUNDATION. NOT MUCH TO DO IT’S STILL THE SAME. A WELL TUNED GOVT. DOES NOT REQUIRE CHANGE AS YOU SEE HOOVER. REAGAN WAS IGNORED AND THATS A ‘SHAME CHANGE”.

Social security, Medicare and Medicaid need to be off the table for negotiations. Millions of us have paid in 30-40 years and more. It’our money and yes we are entitled to get it back. These idiots can start their”Taxed Enough Already”shit after I’m dead,LOL.Typical tear party member wants to cut thes “entitlements” but if you look closely most of these people are already recieving theirs.Hypocricy personified.OMG,I think we’re screwed! If anything beef these programs up!Don’t touch retirement age

My question is since the American people voted for a DEMOCRAT why do Republicans think they should have just as much of a voice? That everything needs to be 50/50? If Americans wanted Republicans then McCain would be in power not Obama. More like 70/30.

@mercy2cede I have absolutely no idea why they didn’t raise taxes on the rich. You’re still dead wrong about your claim that raising taxes on people who make over 250,000 would hurt small business.
January 25th, 2012 at 11:16 am
@REVkingtremain Answer my question first :Why didnt the Democrat party raise taxes on the rich last year or the year before, when they had little to no opposition? Basically they owned all of the legislative branches. So why??
January 25th, 2012 at 12:16 pm
@mercy2cede The vast majority of small business don’t make enough to be affected by Obama’s tax policy. How many small businesses actually make over 250,000?
January 25th, 2012 at 12:46 pm
Why didnt the Democrat party raise taxes on the rich last year or the year before, when they had little to no opposition? Why? I’ll tell you why. The taxing of sucess is the most poisoness thing you can do to our small businesses, the backbone of our economy. Now that the Democrats no longer hold all legislative branches, they dont care about this poison. Afterall now they have someone to blame everything on, namely the Republican held House.

If they really want to cut the budget Instead of worrying about the poor and disabled people in entitlement programs they should worry more about how much the rich and pompous celebrities like Charlie Sheen and Justin Bieber are earning in salary and paying in income tax to support the government. These celebrities make enough money off the public to support many more entitlement programs that haven’t yet been created plus support non-essentials like NPR radio and PBS.

WOW so let me get this straight it is now necessary and okay for President Obama to lead on the 2010 midterm budget debate but the majority that elected President Obama in 2008 can’t have the benefits provided by the historic Affordable Health Care Act (ObamaCare), his budget, vision of equality and justice for all of this nation’s citizens!

Legislators who vote to cut SS benefits, nay will plan on living in DC, there is no way they would be welcome back home. SS dollars are a significant part of local economies. retirees & disable will no longer afford shelter, a medical care, real hardship could occur here. even deaths. Persons who had no role in wrecking the economy should NOT be required to do “their part” to repair the economy.

The working class work fo their private pensions & savings. all they worked for was evaporated by the banksters & other corporate crooks. SS was intended as a safety net, that safety net was/is needed by many who have been reduced to living month to month, with no other options.
January 25th, 2012 at 4:01 pm
@armyveteran101st SS was to be a safety net, that safety net is needed RIGHT NOW.. The private pensions people worked for ^ private retirement savings are gone because of the banksters ,corporate crooks. Countless people have been reduced living month to month. Cuts to SS will put people out of their home & quite possibly cause deaths. They people didn’t wreck the economy, the people who did are the ones who should bleed. Bleed green, they will still be better off than most.
